Sharing the suffering of the Chilean church
Perhaps you find it inappropriate to report a most disturbing series of events occurring in our Church in Chile.
Truly, it is our church. We share the suffering of our Chilean sisters and brothers who we won’t blame for casting a vote of no confidence in their bishops, their 34 shepherds who have offered resignations to our Holy Father Pope Francis.
Without an Episcopate, there is no church.
Our reluctance to speak to the clerical sexual abuses in Chile and attempts to conceal the activity which gives rise to the resignation of the entire Chilean Conference of Bishops makes us culpable in it.
There is plenty of coverage of this unprecedented mass resignation event in the secular press.
Thank you,
William D. Cesaletti, Keaau
