Setting right the wrong
“Bravo Zulu” — “Well Done” in Navy lingo — for the way you addressed the federal administration’s separating children from parents at our southern border, in the June 29 Hawaii Catholic Herald. The two articles from the Catholic News Service provided appropriate supplemental information while the letter from Lawrence Chun was superb in capturing the essence of the issue.
I especially appreciated the “Talk story” article from the Office of Social Ministry and humbly suggest that the USCCB’s “Prayer for Migrant Children” be added as one of the prayers which are said prior to the start of each Mass.
In the words of Union Civil War general and U.S. senator Carl Schurz, “My country, right or wrong, if right to be kept right; and if wrong to be set right.”
The voice of the Roman Catholic Church in Hawaii is vitally important in setting right the wrong of separating children from their parents.
