11 parishes gaining new pastors, parochial vicars in summer assignments

In the annual appointments of priest assignments, effective July 1, three parishes will gain new pastors or administrators and seven will have new parochial vicars (formerly called associate pastors). An additional administrator starts Aug. 1.

Three priests will start assignments as hospital chaplains, and one priest is retiring.

All of these appointments were previously announced in the official notices published in the Hawaii Catholic Herald.

The following priests will start as pastors or parish administrators on July 1.

  • Father Oliver Ortega, administrator, St. Ann Parish, Waihee, Maui
  • La Salette Father Danilo Galang, MS, pastor, Holy Cross Parish, Kalaheo
  • Somascan Father John Molina, CRS, administrator, Sacred Heart Parish, Pahoa

The following priest will start as a parish administrator on Aug. 1.

  • Father Drexel Ramos, administrator, St. Mary Parish, Hana

The following priests will start as parochial vicars on July 1.

  • Father EJ Resinto, parochial vicar, Manoa-Punahou Catholic Community
  • Father William Tulua, parochial vicar, St. Catherine Parish, Kapaa
  • La Salette Father Napoleon Andres, MS, parochial vicar, Christ the King Parish, Kahului
  • La Salette Father Anton Nyo Ano, MS, parochial vicar, St. Joseph Parish, Waipahu
  • La Salette Father Edwin Conselva, MS, parochial vicar, St. Anthony Parish, Kalihi

The following priests will start as parochial vicars pending their arrival to Hawaii.

  • Father Michael Tolentino (Archdiocese of Nueva Segovia, Philippines), parochial vicar, St. Joseph Parish, Makawao, Maui
  • Father Constantino Atenaja Jr. (Archdiocese of Nueva Segovia, Philippines), parochial vicar, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, Ewa Beach

These priests will start as chaplains on July 1.

  • Father Oliver Ortega, chaplain, Maui Memorial Medical Center
  • Father Mario Palanca, chaplain, St. Francis Healthcare System of Hawaii
  • Augustinian Father Norlito Concepcion, OSA, chaplain, Diocesan Hospital Ministries

The following priest will retire starting July 1.

  • Father Victor Lanuevo, retiring effective July 1
