Photo: Celebrating Flores de Mayo

06/13/2018 by Hawaii Catholic Herald

The Our Lady of Perpetual Help Filipino Catholic Club of Ewa Beach celebrated Flores De Mayo throughout the month of May with the participation of the parish priests Father Edmundo N. Barut Jr., the spiritual director, and Father EJ Resinto, the assistant spiritual director. Flores De Mayo (Flowers of May) is a tradition in the Philippines that has been brought to Hawaii. It is celebrated with the daily offering of flowers and devotions to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Aurora C. Ponce, left, was selected as the Flores De Mayo queen and had the privilege of crowning the statue of the Blessed Virgin. (Photo courtesy of Francis T. Ponce)
