A new production of “November’s Song,” a drama about St. Marianne of Molokai by George Herman, scheduled for November at the Mamiya Theatre, is seeking a small number of actors and production assistants.
The play is being produced by the Sisters of St. Francis of the Neumann Communities in partnership with Saint Louis School.
The play is a revival of the 2012-2013 production with Eva Andrade repeating her performance in the lead role. The new show promises some changes to the script and the production in general.
The play is a dramatic monologue delivered by an aging Mother Marianne Cope reminiscing on 30 years of service to Hawaii’s Hansen’s disease patients banished in Kalaupapa, Molokai.
Mike Browning will be the technical/production director. Gary Manz will play the part of Father Damien.
The production is looking to cast six women as Franciscan sisters and several children to be leprosy patients.
Also needed are stage managers, sound, lightning and prop assistants, and persons to help with set construction, makeup and costumes.
The show dates are Nov. 16, 17 and 18 at the Mamiya Theatre on the Saint Louis School campus.
