Photo: A gift from Bethlehem

12/28/2017 by Hawaii Catholic Herald

Siham and Ghassan Al Sahouri of Little Bethlehem Christians, a small business and mission which regularly brings religious articles from the Holy Land to Hawaii parishes for sale, presented Bishop Larry Silva with a handcrafted crucifix as a gift, Dec. 14 at the bishop’s office. The crucifix is made from olive wood and includes at its base a sample of soil from the Holy Land. The Al Sahouris, a couple residing in Maryland with five children, through Little Bethlehem Christians help support a group of about 200 Christian families that work as woodcarvers in the place of Jesus’ birth.
