Photo: 30 days, 30 rosaries

11/30/2017 by Hawaii Catholic Herald

As part of St. Roch Parish’s centennial year, in October parishioners participated in a 30-day devotion to Our Blessed Mother, reciting the rosary, under the spiritual guidance of pastor Father Jun Postrano, in 29 homes from Pupukea on the North Shore to Hauula on the windward coast, with the statue of Mary present (pictured), closing with a “living” rosary at Mary’s grotto on parish grounds. For the living rosary, more than 60 parishioners represented each bead and prayer of the rosary. Holding candles in the early evening and into the night the prayers were truly inspirational. The year 2017 represented the centennial of St. Roch Parish, which spans Oahu’s Koolauloa District. Bishop Larry Silva celebrated an anniversary Mass in August. The centennial observance is part of the parish’s five-year plan to increase fellowship and faith formation among parishioners and the community. (Photo courtesy of St. Roch Parish)
