Thirteen Hawaii parishes will receive newly assigned priests on July 1, the customary date for clergy changes in the Diocese of Honolulu.
St. George, Waimanalo, will receive a new pastor. He is Father Raymund Ellorin, a priest of the Diocese of Honolulu.
Four parishes will gain new administrators, who have the same responsibilities as pastors but generally are priests who do not belong to the Honolulu diocese. The new administrators are:
- Father Moses Akebule to St. John the Baptist, Kalihi. Father Akebule is a priest of the Diocese of Navrongo-Bolgatanga, Ghana.
- Father Anselmo “Jun” Bobier to Our Lady of Lourdes, Honokaa. Father Bobier is a priest of the Diocese of Legazpi, Philippines.
- Father Ernesto Juarez to Sacred Heart, Pahoa. Father Juarez is a priest of the Diocese of Nueva Segovia, Philippines.
- Jesuit Father Michael Scully to Malia Puka O Kalani Parish, Hilo. Father Scully belongs to the California province of the Society of Jesus.
Eight parishes will receive parochial vicars, formerly called associate pastors. They are:
- Father Scott Bush to Sts. Peter and Paul, Honolulu. Father Bush is a priest of the Diocese of Honolulu.
- Father Joseph Ayinpuusa to St. John Apostle and Evangelist, Mililani. Father Ayinpuusa is a priest of the Diocese of Navrongo-Bolgatanga, Ghana.
- Father Marlon Belmonte to St. Anthony of Padua, Kailua. Father Belmonte is a priest of the Diocese of Nueva Segovia, Philippines.
- Augustinian Father Norlito Concepcion to St. Catherine, Kapaa. Father Conception is a priest of the Order of St. Augustine, of the province of Santisimo Nombre de Jesus of the Philippines.
- Father Danilo Laeda to St. John Apostle and Evangelist, Mililani. Father Laeda is a priest of the Diocese of Laoag, Philippines.
- Somascan Father John Molina, to Sts. Peter and Paul, Honolulu. Father Molina is a priest of the Order of Clerics Regular of Somasca, Southeast Asia Province.
- Jesuit Father Joseph Selvan Durai Raj to St. Jude, Makakilo. Father Selvan Durai Raj belongs to the Madurai, India, province of the Society of Jesus.
- Father Alfred Guerrero to Our Lady of Good Counsel, Pearl City. This is Father Guerrero’s first assignment. A local vocation, he was ordained for the Diocese of Honolulu on May 19.
- Sacred Hearts Father Joseph Pasala to St. Michael, Waialua. Father Pasala will take the position of administrator of this parish on Sept. 15.
Earlier this year, Bishop Larry Silva announced that Father Herman Leong, a Hawaii-born priest of the Diocese of Oakland, who is retired and has been living in Hawaii since March 1, has priestly faculties for the Diocese of Honolulu and is available for substitute ministry on Oahu.
