Join the global rosary relay in the cathedral

06/15/2017 by Hawaii Catholic Herald

All are invited to pray the Glorious Mysteries for all priests on Friday, June 23, at 11:30 a.m. in the Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of Peace in downtown Honolulu as part of a global rosary relay.

Deacon Modesto Cordero, director of the Office of Worship, will start off the Hawaii rosary. Each individual bead will then be recited by a volunteer. Those who cannot attend in person can view a live stream of the rosary on HICTV.com.

The Hawaii recitation follows the rosary at the Basilica Nuestra Senora del Pilar in Buenos Aires where Pope Francis is from. After Hawaii, the rosary will be recited at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C.

Bishop Larry Silva reflected on the power of this simple prayer.

“The rosary is such an unsophisticated and simple prayer that we can overlook its power to connect us closely to the mysteries of the life of the Lord and his beloved Mother,” he said. “We pray it as if we were children, repeating our limited words over and over again. And, as with a child, our loving Father and our beloved Mother respond in a way we never imagined possible.”

“Through praying the rosary, may the Lord bless all our priests,” the bishop said.

For more information about the rosary relay, contact diocesan event coordinator Easter Almuena ealmuena@rcchawaii.org or 585-3342.
