Bishop to celebrate Mass for Island graduates

05/18/2017 by Hawaii Catholic Herald

Bishop Larry Silva will celebrate a baccalaureate Mass for all graduates in the diocese, 6 p.m., Thursday, May 25 at the Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of Peace.

All those graduating from elementary school, middle school, high school, or college — including home schoolers — are invited to attend the Mass with their families and friends.

A reception will follow in the Kamiano Center next door to the cathedral.

According to the diocesan Office of Worship, the Mass is the first of what will be an annual event.

The Office of Worship is also encouraging all Hawaii parishes also to invite their graduates for a special blessing at one or more of their weekend Masses.

According to an Office of Worship memo, these activities are “in line with our diocesan pastoral plan ‘Stewards of the Gospel’” in helping youth and young adults “understand how much we value their presence and participation in the church.”
