Seniors and others in need of expert assistance with preparing their 2016 tax returns have three places to go get help, thanks to Catholic Charities Hawaii and AARP Foundation Tax-Aide.
AARP Foundation Tax-Aide, the nation’s largest free tax assistance and preparation service, provides help to Hawaii taxpayers with low to moderate incomes, with special attention to those 60 and older. One does not have to be a member of AARP or a retiree to use this free service.
The Lanakila Multi-Purpose Senior Center at 1640 Lanakila Avenue in Honolulu will help with simple tax returns, 8 a.m.-noon, on Mondays, Feb. 13 through April 10. For an appointment, call 847-1322.
Walk-in appointments are available at Catholic Charities Hawaii Clarence T.C. Ching Campus at 1822 Keeaumoku Street on Saturdays starting Feb. 11 through April 15, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
Walk-in and call-ahead appointments are also being taken at Catholic Charities Big Island office in Kona at 73-5618 Maiau Street, Suite B201 (above Costco), on Tuesdays, Feb. 14 through April 11, noon-4 p.m. For an appointment, call 217-6883.
