Diocesan vicar general Father Gary Secor, right, embraces his mother Alice during his investiture ceremony as a “monsignor,” Feb. 2 at the Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of Peace. The designation of monsignor is an honor bestowed on the vicar general by Pope Francis as a “Chaplain to His Holiness,” recognizing the efforts Msgr. Secor has made in serving the Diocese of Honolulu. In addition to his duties as vicar general, Msgr. Secor also serves as Moderator of the Curia and rector of the Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of Peace. (HCH photo | Darlene Dela Cruz)
