Letter to the Herald

02/09/2017 by Hawaii Catholic Herald

Wrong and right

The Father Rolheiser editorial: Orthodoxy, Sin and Heresy and John Mulderig’s review of the movie “Silence,” in the Jan. 27 issue of the Hawaii Catholic Herald, presented contrasting views, in my opinion.

Rolheiser writes that there is a difference between something being wrong and something being a sin.

Conversely, Mulderig writes that circumstances cannot transform wrong into right.

Perhaps Rolheiser can do a review of “Silence” in a future column using his theological background for clarification.

(Admittedly, the apostasy of a priest and a young man missing Mass on Sunday are two different circumstances, but who are we to judge?)
