More than 100 people gathered at the Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of Peace for the “Solidarity in Prayer” holy hour, Oct. 13. The evening service — which included the rosary, a floral procession, Scripture readings, adoration and a homily by Bishop Larry Silva — marked the opening of the centennial celebration of the apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima to three children in Portugal in 1917. A wooden statue of Our Lady of Fatima, far left, was displayed in the sanctuary for veneration. The statue is a family heirloom gifted by Sacred Hearts Sister Mary Dolorine Pires (praying the rosary in bottom photo) to the diocese. (HCH photos | Darlene Dela Cruz)
