Photo: Secular Franciscans reflect

10/05/2016 by Hawaii Catholic Herald

On Sept. 17, the feast of the Stigmata of St. Francis of Assisi, the Secular Franciscan Fraternities of the Hawaii Regent, gathered at the Kamiano Center by the Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of Peace for their annual day of recollection. The fraternities began with morning prayer, and then listened to talks by Capuchin Franciscan Fathers Gordon Combs, speaking, and Paul Minchak on Catholic doctrine and scriptural foundations. Later in the day they reflected on the prayer of the church, known as the Divine Office, fraternity in the modern world and various topics related to secular Franciscan life. Of course, there was a break in the day to feed “Brother Body” as St. Francis would say. At the end of the day, the members greeted each other and returned to their fraternities and islands.
