The American Marketing Association Hawaii Chapter awarded the Hawaii Catholic Schools office the Silver Award for Best Non-Profit Marketing in the state, at the association’s 39th Annual Marketer of the Year awards luncheon at Hawaii Prince Hotel, April 7.

Through the work of a recently hired communications/marketing specialist Deborah Manog and a local marketing firm, the Hawaii Catholic Schools office has been boosting the image and impact of local Catholic Schools on the Internet and throughout the community.

Through the local marketing firm Orangeroc, the office produced a new, user-friendly website and conducted an online survey of more than 1,300 parents of children who attend Catholic schools in the state to learn why they chose Catholic schools. The survey results will be used to promote Catholic schools.

“We also created our social media accounts to unite the schools with the halo brand that is ‘Hawaii Catholic Schools,’” said Manog.

Hawaii Catholic Schools superintendent Michael Rockers, who attended the awards luncheon with Manog and Melinda Mullis of Orangeroc, believes the award-winning marketing efforts will yield results.

“I think the good work of Debbie Manog, as well as Melinda Mullis and her Orangeroc team, will help us reach our goals of increased enrollment and greater brand awareness,” he said in a news release.

Taking the Gold Award for Best Non-Profit Marketing was Honolulu Festival. Other awards went for event marketing, e-marketing and new product marketing. The AMA is the largest marketing association in the United States.
