Chaminade University of Honolulu recognized three members of its community who exemplify Marianist values.

The school president Marianist Brother Bernard Ploeger and rector Marianist Father George Cerniglia made the presentations Feb. 23 at the university’s Heritage Awards Ceremony on campus in the Mystical Rose Oratory.

Here are those honored:

Dr. Gail Grabowsky, associate professor in environmental studies, received the Chaminade Award, which recognizes a faculty or professional staff member who has exhibited a continuous commitment to Marianist values in education by promoting the dignity and rights of people. Grabowsky is described as a dedicated professor, who is academically invaluable, loved by her students and a genuine inspiration to others.

Allison Jerome, assistant to the dean of students, was given the Marianist Award, which recognizes a staff member who has exhibited a continuous and extraordinary commitment to the Marianist value of family spirit.

Student Martin Moore received the Founder’s Award, which recognizes a student who has exhibited a commitment to Marianist values by his or her outstanding generosity, respect for others and spirit of faith, and who is an exemplary role model for the Chaminade community. Martin’s contribution has been in leadership and in faith and service.
