MAKANA’S HELPFUL HINTS
Today’s tip: Create mentoring opportunities: Connect older and younger adults in mentoring relationships like those found in professions and ask young adults to be mentors for high school youth. Reinforce the leadership role that each Christian is asked to undertake.
Happy New Year and welcome to Ordinary Time! Although this isn’t the start of a liturgical or school year, it is for many a time to explore new beginnings. Take advantage of this time to explore the willingness of your community to take on new relationships.
Mentoring is such a big part of discipleship that one simply does not happen without the other. In most companies and organizations, mentoring is how leaders are developed. In our parishes, it’s no different.
“Mentoring is a significant way in which we equip young adults with the values, beliefs, ideas and learning necessary to be mature Christians … Young adults can benefit from mentoring relationships connected with career and job, especially when we share the values and wisdom that spring from our belief in the Gospel.” (Sons and Daughters of the Light)
