LISA’S CATECHISM CORNER
YOUCAT*: “Someone who goes on a pilgrimage ‘prays with his feet’ and experiences with all his senses that his entire life is one long journey to God.” [1674]
If you’ve ever been on a pilgrimage, you know that it can be both a joyful and challenging journey. Unlike a vacation, a pilgrimage is not about getting rest (trust me, you don’t get any) or attending a big sports event or a music concert. The goal of a pilgrimage is transformation.
People travel to holy places like Lourdes, Fatima, the Holy Land and shrines of favorite saints. They go to spend time in prayer, contemplation and reflection — searching for a deeper relationship with God.
This summer, youth, young adults and adults will pilgrimage to Krakow, Poland, for World Youth Day. Please keep them in your prayers. If you are interested in joining the pilgrimage, visit www.catholichawaii.org/oyyam/yam/wyd for more information. Dziekuje!
