Celebrities to flip pancakes at Kailua school’s breakfast with bishop

01/14/2016 by Hawaii Catholic Herald

1svjbreakfastA list of limber local celebs will be flipping pancakes at St. John Vianney School’s 50th Anniversary “Breakfast with the Bishop,” at 8 a.m., 10 a.m. and noon, Sunday, Jan. 17.

The bishop is Bishop Larry Silva. The event is a fundraiser for the Kailua school. The celebrities are city councilman Ikaika Anderson, chef Chai Chaowasaree, comedian Frank De Lima, entertainer Cathy Foy, Miss Hawaii Jeanne Kapela, singer Mihana Souza, TV news reporter Pamela Young and others.

Bishop Silva will speak on the value of Catholic education at all three meals. The pastor Father Peter Miti and principal Caryn DeMello will greet the diners.

According to the principal, the donations will go toward the renovation of the school’s facilities, including a new technology center and an art studio currently under construction, as well as tuition assistance. The school is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.

Besides pancakes, the breakfast will offer a full buffet prepared by the school’s professional chefs and served by teachers, parents and students. Entertainment will be by the school’s hula halau and musical groups.

For more information or to make a donation, call St. John Vianney School at 261-4651. Tickets are $20 for adults and $12 for students 15 and younger.
