At the annual Augustine Educational Foundation donor reception Sept. 17, at the Halekulani Hotel, a $75,000 donation was given by the First Hawaiian Bank Foundation to fund college preparation programs for PWH Scholars. The PWH program provides opportunities for students who, for income or other reasons, normally would not attend Catholic schools. The program presently provides scholarships for 30 students in four schools — Damien Memorial School, Saint Francis School, Sacred Hearts Academy and St. Joseph Jr./Sr. High School in Hilo. The schools’ teachers and staff accepted the check.
