Choirs from 11 Oahu Catholic schools sang songs ranging from the hymn “Amazing Grace” to the Beatles’ “Let It Be” in the third annual “Music a Gift from God” choral festival, March 12, hosted by Maryknoll School in its Clarence T.C. Ching Gymnasium.

The participating schools were Maryknoll; St. Anthony, Kalihi; St. Theresa, Honolulu; Holy Family, Honolulu; St. Elizabeth, Aiea; St. Ann, Kaneohe; St. Anthony, Kailua; St. John Vianney, Kailua; St. John the Baptist, Kalihi; St. Joseph, Waipahu; and Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Ewa Beach.

The choral groups were composed of up to 25 students in grades three to eight.

In addition to the live audience, more than 1,400 people viewed the event online, including one parent, a flight attendant on her way to Singapore, thanks to Dennis Yee of DAY AV Services.

March is Music in the Schools Month.
