The Catholic Charities Housing Development Corporation, or CCHD, hosted a ground breaking event March 10 to mark the start of construction on a new affordable housing complex for seniors called Meheula Vista. Civic leaders, Catholic clergy and staff from Catholic Charities Hawaii gathered at the site of the future complex in Mililani Mauka. Among the guests at the ceremony were, from left to right, diocesan vicar general Father Gary Secor, CCHD president Rick Stack, Gary Furuta, Bishop Larry Silva, Honolulu mayor Kirk Caldwell, St. John Apostle and Evangelist Church pastor Msgr. John Mbinda, executive director of the Hawaii Housing Finance and Development Corporation Craig Hirai and Catholic Charities Hawaii president/CEO Jerry Rauckhorst. (HCH photo | Darlene Dela Cruz)
