Photo: Miss America touts science at the Academy

1SHA-missamericaMiss America 2014 Nina Davuluri was the featured speaker at Sacred Hearts Academy’s 21st Annual Science Symposium for Girls on Feb. 28. Davuluri, a University of Michigan graduate, is an advocate for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) education. More than 500 girls from across Hawaii in grades five through eight, and their parents, attended the free event. Also at the symposium were Davuluri’s sister and mother who also spoke and 19 interactive workshops exploring STEM careers with local professionals.
