“If you’re going to say you’re a Catholic, don’t you think you should BE a Catholic?”
Since I asked myself that question my life has never been the same. I remember thinking saying “yes” means that faith is the most important thing in your life. Then, I realized there was one thing every saint has done, is doing, and will do … trust in God.
No matter how dire the situation, if one maintains trust in God, they will never be let down. Matthew 6:25-34 (Dependence on God) quickly became one of my favorite passages of Scripture. Once I started to “seek first the kingdom (of God) and his righteousness” [Matthew 6:33] the world made SO much sense!
See, being a follower of Christ is actually incredibly simple, but never easy. And without faith, it becomes impossible. We all experience sufferings and will need to find a way to focus on our faith and strengthen our trust in God. So, who better to give us a tip on how to do this than a saint whose name is tied to our greatest inspiration?
“Whenever anything disagreeable or displeasing happens to you, remember Christ crucified and be silent.” —St. John of the Cross
