Wake up!

Do the words “parish renewal” excite you? Perhaps not. Maybe the phrase has been used so often to refer to so many things that one is not always sure what it means anymore. Like a television commercial, it is either ignored or, worse, has become annoying.

Not that the idea of parish renewal is a bad one. On the contrary, a parish that is not busy renewing itself is busy dying. …

The “Parish Renewal Experience” or PRE, is a specific program, developed by pastors which is used to shake a dozing parish by the spiritual shoulders through a weekend marathon of talks and “sharing” among parishioners. …

The diocese is now offering the program to everyone, in every parish, through the expertise of Father Alan Nagai, vicar general and pastor of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Pearl City.
