02/10/2015 by Hawaii Catholic Herald

The Great Malunggay Festival and Parade, a benefit for the educational needs of Filipino students at Leeward Community College, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Feb. 21, at LCC in Pearl City, will feature great food, a cooking contest, vendor products and booths, professional and amateur entertainment, a talent showcase, games and more. Admission and parking is free.

The event will feature the Fil-Am All Star Band, made up of former members of the Society of Seven, Honolulu the Band and the Manila Machine.

The festival is named after the Malunggay (also Kalamunggay and Marunggay), a well-known backyard tree for most Filipino homes in the Philippines and Hawaii known to be rich in nutrients and minerals.

For information, call Al Simbahon at 256-2755, or Deacon Ernie Libarios at 455-0242, or email info@malunggayfestival.com.
