Photos: The stars are brightly shining

12/19/2014 by Hawaii Catholic Herald

1starlightbright21starlightbright31starlightbright41starlightbright51starlightbright1The diocesan prison ministry hosted its annual “Star Light, Star Bright” Christmas party for inmates and their families at the Women’s Community Correctional Center in Kailua, Dec. 13. The event has been providing for more than a decade a chance for women inmates to reconnect with their loved ones. Community members and volunteers donated food, presents and games for the day-long party. Neighbor Island families were able to attend with help from the diocesan prison ministry.

Photos from top: Girls reunite with their mom with goodies and toys; a mother and daughter take in some bonding time; a young boy excitedly holds his gift; kids were treated to a visit with miniature horses; the inmates surprise guests with a hula performance; a child creates a greeting card for her mother.
