Wow! Thanksgiving is gone and there are only three weeks until Christmas begins. Last week’s Black Friday sales actually started the day before Thanksgiving and Christmas decorations and sales popped up even before that! It really feels like corporate America (save a handful of companies) is trying to hide Thanksgiving!
Now, I hope you caught the last word of my first sentence, because it is easy to forget that the Christmas season starts on Christmas Day. Thus, it is of the utmost importance to remember that we are now (at this very moment) in a season of waiting, Advent.
So here’s the tip, or challenge if you will. This week, instead of letting society set the pace of this “holiday” season, why don’t we set it by professing what we believe this “holy” season is really about. Celebrate the rest of Advent with Busted Halo’s Advent Calendar and save the Christmas music for the actual Christmas Season — Christmas Day to the feast of the Baptism of the Lord! Search for “The Christmas Scale” on Youtube, watch it, share it with others, and “remember the pauses.” With that you’ll never forget what the best news in the world is!
