YOUCAT*: Those who yearn for the kingdom of God look to Jesus’ list of priorities: the Beatitudes. [1716-1717, 1725-1726]
As preparations begin for the next international World Youth Day celebration in Krakow, Poland, in 2016, Pope Francis has asked young people to reflect upon the Beatitudes (Matthew 5:3-12).
When Jesus gave us the Sermon on the Mount, he began with the Beatitudes so they must be important, right? That’s right — they are especially significant because they are direct teachings from Jesus himself. In the Beatitudes, Jesus shows us how to live — the path to true happiness.
This Saturday, nearly 700 youth, young adults, and adults from across our diocese will gather on Oahu to celebrate this year’s Diocesan Youth Day, with the theme “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” Please keep them in prayer.
