Photo: That’s cold

10/10/2014 by Hawaii Catholic Herald

1icebucketSister Joan of Arc Souza of the Sisters of St. Francis of the Neumann Communities took the popular “Ice Bucket Challenge” Sept. 23 to raise money for the ALS Association, which promotes research for a cure to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. Sister Joan of Arc, head of school at St. Francis School in Manoa, gamely participated as student athletes dumped buckets of icy cold water over her. The diocese has allowed participation in the Ice Bucket Challenge with the stipulation that funds collected for the ALS Association must be designated for research that does not involve embryonic stem cells.
