Rereading the constitution
Bishop Joseph A. Ferrario is encouraging his priests to take in a little reading and reflection on the liturgy this summer.
The bishop mailed a copy of Pope John Paul II’s “Apostolic Letter on the 25th Anniversary of the Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy” to each of the more than 200 priests in the diocese this week together with a copy of the Constitution itself.
“I would kindly encourage you to read the anniversary document and reread the Constitution,” he wrote in a cover letter.
“I am convinced that a great amount of our achievements in the renewal process come from this first document of the Council,” Bishop Ferrario said of the Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy (Sacrosanctum Concilium) promulgated as a document of the Second Vatican Council by Pope Paul VI on Dec. 4, 1963.
