Lanakila Senior Center to sponsor candidates’ fair

07/04/2014 by Hawaii Catholic Herald

The Lanakila Multi-Purpose Senior Center, a program of Catholic Charities Hawaii, will host a Candidates’ Fair, 8-11 a.m., July 25, to introduce senior voters to local candidates in this year’s elections.

Candidates running for governor, lieutenant governor and positions in the Office of Hawaiian Affairs Board of Trustees are expected to attend the event.

Seniors will also have the opportunity to meet those seeking office for the center’s target geographic area, which spans from Ward Avenue to Fort Shafter. Scheduled to be at the fair are candidates for the U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives, State Senate, State House of Representatives and City Council.

The fair also will have door prizes and free lunch. Parking onsite is limited, but street parking and a valet service will be available.

The Lanakila Multi-Purpose Senior Center is located at 1640 Lanakila Avenue. It is financed in part by state funds appropriated to the Executive Office on Aging via contracts with the EOA and the City & County of Honolulu, Elderly Affairs Division.

Seniors interested in the July 25 Candidates’ Fair can call 847-1322 for more information and to register to attend.
