Nick Acosta, a 2014 Damien Memorial School graduate, is this year’s recipient of the $1,000 Lili Anama Park Memorial Scholarship from Ukulele Festival Hawaii. He is a master on the four strings, despite being born without his right arm below the elbow. Trained by famed ukulele instructor and festival founder Roy Sakuma, Nick will be one of the featured musicians at this year’s event, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., July 20, at Kapiolani Park Bandstand. He will perform “Glass Ball Slack Key” and “One Note Samba.” Other headliners include Willie K and Raiatea Helm and ukulele ensembles from around the world. Nick is the son of Jesper and Kim Acosta.
