Big Island’s Pahoa parish planning big weekend multi-cultural shindig

Sacred Heart Parish in Pahoa on the Big Island is busily preparing for its big weekend feast day celebration, June 27-29. The theme is “May We All Be One.”

Orders are being taken for laulau the parish cooks are preparing. Activities being planned include a fun run/walk fundraiser, a rummage sale, a mass wedding with Deacon Julio Akapito, ono food, children and youth games and an outdoor Mass on Sunday followed by a parish pot luck.

The food booths will feature Hawaiian, Micronesian and Korean plates. Bentos will also be available for purchase. And the parish youth group will have their own “Bake ‘n’ Snack Sale.”

Entertainment on Saturday will be provided by eight groups reflecting the rich cultural diversity of the Sacred Heart ohana.
