Photo: New acolyte

05/23/2014 by Hawaii Catholic Herald

1acolyte

Keith Cabiles holds a chalice and paten as Bishop Larry Silva confers upon him the ministry of acolyte, May 17 at St. Stephen Diocesan Center chapel in Kaneohe. Cabiles is one of 13 men in the diocese’s seventh class studying for the permanent diaconate. The Rite of Acolyte is the last major step before their ordination as deacons in January. As acolytes, Cabiles and the other deacon candidates now have the duty of assisting clergy in liturgical celebrations, particularly the Mass. (HCH photo | Darlene Dela Cruz)
