Photo: A big service project

04/25/2014 by Hawaii Catholic Herald

1serviceprojectAs a community service project, 10 students from Damien Memorial School, Saint Francis School and Sacred Hearts Academy and their families planned, prepared, sliced and diced, cleaned, hauled and served more than 200 people, including 44 keiki, at the Next Step Homeless Shelter in Kakaako on April 14. The students are all scholarship recipients of the Augustine Educational Foundation with a grant from PWH Educational Foundation. Assisting them in making 200 pounds of hamburger stew was Judy Hartke, Bishop Silva’s cook. (Photo courtesy of Sue Ferandin)
