Three Honolulu pro-life events will mark Roe vs. Wade anniversary

12/20/2013 by Hawaii Catholic Herald

Three Honolulu pro-life events in January will mark the U.S. Supreme Court’s Jan. 22, 1973, Roe vs. Wade decision that legalized abortion in the United States.

A Luminary Ceremony and Prayer Service, 5:30-8 p.m., Jan. 22, at the Hawaii state Capitol will honor the millions of babies lost to abortion.

The event is being sponsored by Aloha Life Advocates, formerly Hawaii Right to Life, and the Pearson Foundation of Hawaii Pregnancy Problem Centers.

A luminary is a candle or other light source placed in a weighted paper bag for outdoor display. Hundreds of luminaries will be placed around the Capitol representing the lives lost to abortion.

The Pearson Foundation is collecting a $5 donation per luminary. It hopes to reach a goal of 1,000 luminaries. Call Ruth Prinzivalli at 349-2223 for additional information.

Aloha Life Advocates is also sponsoring the 41st annual Rally and March for Life, 12:30-5 p.m., Jan. 25, at the state Capitol. Marianist John Thompson will be the featured speaker. Providing music and testimonies are Cynthia Milles, John and Shanita Akana, Honugruv and Victory Outreach Music Ministry.

Whole Life Hawaii is hosting “Cultures of Life: A Celebration,” 7:30-9 p.m., Jan. 22, at St. Andrew’s Priory in Honolulu. The keynote speaker is former Miss America Angela Baraquio. To reserve a free seat, email danielle@iamwholelife.com by Jan. 15.
