Jerry Rauckhorst, president and CEO of Catholic Charities Hawaii was presented with the Paulette V. Maehara Leadership Award by the Aloha Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals Nov. 14 at the organization’s 2013 National Philanthropy Day awards banquet at the Waikiki Sheraton Hotel.

The leadership award honors leaders in the nonprofit sector who have excelled in the areas of mentoring, strategic planning and fundraising. National Philanthropy Day acknowledges services provided by the nonprofit community and the impact of philanthropy on society.

He is currently spearheading another fundraising effort, “Futures Campaign: Building a Bridge to Tomorrow,” to meet the needs of Hawaii’s elderly, homeless, abused and neglected children and adults, youth and foster care children, disabled adults and immigrants.

Also honored at the event was Catholic Charities board chairman and longtime volunteer Les Correa who was recognized as Catholic Charities’ Volunteer in Philanthropy.
