The diocesan Office of Religious Education recently released its latest sacramental DVD featuring lessons and reflections on the Eucharist.
“Eucharist: One ‘Ohana,” highlights the central sacrament of the Catholic faith through three distinct themes — “We Give Thanks,” “We Are Nourished” and “We Are Sent.” The 20-minute video includes references from sacred Scripture and the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Personal perspectives on the Eucharist are also shared by Bishop Larry Silva, local clergy, children and adults.
Hawaii’s saints, Father Damien de Veuster and Mother Marianne Cope, are featured in the DVD as examples of people who faithfully lived out the eucharistic call to love in their community.
“This video was created for the faithful and inquirer alike,” said Jayne Mondoy, diocesan religious education director. It “is sure to be an important resource when meeting with parents and godparents of children preparing to receive First Holy Communion,” she said, as well as for adult faith formation classes and Rites of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) gatherings.
The DVD was produced by Bernadette Baraquio, with assistance from Mondoy and diocesan staffers Deacon Modesto Cordero of the Office of Worship, Office of Social Ministry director Blessed Sacrament Father Bob Stark and adult faith formation coordinator Kristina DeNeve.
“Eucharist: One ‘Ohana” is available for order at a cost of $20. Order forms, a facilitator guide and preview trailer can be found at www.catholichawaii.org/sacramentdvds.
