Fifty-two people from seven parishes attended the Big Island Catechist Retreat Sept. 14 at Immaculate Heart of Mary parish hall in Papaikou. Daughter of St. Paul Sister Irene Regina Hoernschemeyer gave a presentation on Pope John Paul II’s “Theology of the Body.” Diocesan religious education director Jayne Mondoy led a discussion on implementing what the catechists learned during the day. Daughter of St. Paul Sister Fay Pele offered for purchase a selection of books, CDs, DVDs and sacramentals from her order’s downtown Honolulu store. (Photo by Oarlene Wingate)
