Favorite Scripture quote: “She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.” Proverbs 31:25-26

Saint: St. Maria Goretti. I was born on her feast day. I feel so close to her knowing that she is the patron saint of purity, youth and women, which are the main reasons why I am so passionate to serve in my ministries.

Prayer: The rosary

Book: “Captivating,” it’s a Christian book by John Eldredge that helps women own their worth as daughters of God.

Movie: “Elf”! I just like to smile, smiling is my favorite.

Food: Japanese

Latest iPod download: “October Baby” soundtrack

Five fantasy dinner guests: St. Maria Goretti, St. Therese of Lisieux, Mama Mary, St. Ann (mother of Mary) and Blessed Mother Teresa.

Enduring love

1manaolana-saint35Sister Maria Crescencia Perez’s life was rich with service to others and a deep devotion to God, fueled by the example of St. Therese of Lisieux. She had such an impact on those around her that after her death in 1932, people prayed to God through her intercession and their prayers would be granted.

Sister Maria Crescencia was born Maria Angelica in Argentina in 1897; her upbringing was modest and filled with faith. She was educated by the Daughters of Our Lady of the Garden and joined the religious order after she completed her schooling, taking on the name Crescencia in honor of St. Crescencio.

She worked in Argentina at a school and a hospital. However, she contracted tuberculosis at the latter and was sent by the Daughters to Chile, where she continued to work until her death.

Sister Maria Crescencia, whose body is incorrupt, was beatified Nov. 17, 2012. (www.sistersolg.org)
