A treasure trove of video gems

The secret is out. The hidden treasure is found. Families, outreach programs, RCIA, parish religious ed departments, prayer groups, deacons, ministries to the disabled or to prisons — can all benefit from it.

What is it? The Media Resource Department of the Diocese of Honolulu at St. Stephen’s Diocesan Center.

The Media Resource Department began in 1984 as an effort to address the communication needs of the various offices, departments and commissions of the diocese. Sr. Marguerite T. Deponte, SS.CC., and Sr. Mercedes M. Martin, M.M., now provide advice and assistance in the purchase and use of video equipment and also manage a media resource library that is open not only to parish programs and diocesan ministries, but also individual families and other churches.

Sister Rosalinda, 66, has served in Hawaii for 28 years, working mostly with Filipino immigrants and refugees. She now works part-time with Catholic Charities, helping clients petition for reunification of families and stabilization of immigration status.

Through her work at Catholic Charities, she helps about more than 100 clients a year.
