Evangelization workshop for parish youth leaders on Oahu, Maui

08/02/2013 by Hawaii Catholic Herald

The Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry and the Washington state-based Center for Ministry Development are presenting a one-day workshop this month for parish leaders, “Evangelizing Youth: Engaging a New Generation of Disciples” on two islands, Oahu and Maui.

Here are the dates, times and places:

  • Aug. 16, 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m., St. Stephen Diocesan Center, Kaneohe
  • Aug. 17, 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m., St. Theresa Church, Kihei
  • The $54 registration fee covers the workshop, plus lunch and a resource packet.

The workshop is part of a national series on evangelization designed for youth and young adult ministers, catechists, and those working in family ministry and sacramental preparation.

The event promises to deliver the following goals:

  • to share the church’s vision for the new evangelization;
  • to identify trends and current opportunities for engaging a new generation of youth;
  • to energize current ministry efforts through dynamic resources, practical methods, and innovative strategies;
  • to support leaders as they envision their parish or school as an evangelizing community.

According to its website, the Center for Ministry Development, headquartered in Gig Harbor, Wash., “provides training, resources and consultation for pastoral ministry and catechesis with youth, young adults, families and the intergenerational community.”
