Photo: The early morning bread crew

06/07/2013 by Hawaii Catholic Herald

Patricia Tavares, Sarah Tavares and Leona Tavares of the Kula Catholic Community lead the crew of women and men who tirelessly bake their famous Holy Ghost Portuguese sweet bread once a month, sometimes getting up as early as 2:30 a.m. to get the ingredients and supplies ready. Their dedication and love for the Maui parish, along with the other countless volunteers, is much appreciated. (Photo courtesy of Mary Jean Bega)
