Manaolana | New logo: Young, cool, Catholic

What is fresh, bright, local, fun and Catholic?

The new logo of the diocesan Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry, of course!

Working with Craig Hirasaki from the design firm ConnectWorks Group Hawaii, the Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry recently unveiled its new logo below. It is a visual symbol of their mission of evangelization for the Islands’ next generation of Catholics.

“We really wanted our new ‘brand’ to represent the people we serve: youth, young adults and their leaders, and our Catholic faith,” said Lisa Gomes, director of the youth and young adult ministry office.

“Since we have a presence nationally as well, we wanted something that would represent Hawaii, too,” she added.

Gomes and her fellow office staffers — young adult ministry coordinator Makana Aiona and administrative assistant Chucky Unciano — put lots of thought into the design.

“We wanted something that looked professional, clean and simple, but at the same time youthful and fun,” said Aiona. “But, the main message we wanted to send with our logo was that we are Catholic, and our mission is (fostering) the growth of the young people into the people God has willed them to be.”

Look for it in diocesan flyers, on their Facebook page, and in the Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry monthly newsletter.
