Aloha Life Advocates, formerly Hawaii Right to Life, is sponsoring the 40th annual March for Life rally at the Hawaii State Capitol, 1-5 p.m., Jan. 26. Its theme is “A Clear Voice for Life!”
The organization describes the rally as a “family-friendly event” with local entertainers, fun activities, games, face painting, a poster contest and sign waving.
The featured speakers are Deacon Kin Borja and Shanita Akana. Young adults will also offer testimonials.
“It is important to recognize and to commemorate the lives that have been lost and the families affected by abortion over the decades,” said Deacon Kin Borja, president of Aloha Life Advocates. “We want to come together as a family and as a community to celebrate life for all people, from conception to natural end.”
The date marks a change in tradition. The March for Life is usually held on Jan. 22, the anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court Roe v. Wade decision that legalized abortion. However, Aloha Life Advocates will have another event on the evening of Jan. 22, a prayer service with luminary ceremony, also at the capitol. (See story on next page.)
Aloha Life Advocates is a “human rights organization” focused exclusively on life issues. Founded in 1973, it is the state affiliate of the National Right to Life Committee. For more information, visit www.hrtl.org or alohalifeadvocates.org.
