‘10 in ‘10’ campaign tops Catholic Charities’ fund raising effort Minimize
‘10 in ‘10’ campaign tops Catholic Charities’ fund raising effort

Hawaii Catholic Herald

“10 in ‘10” is the name of the new initiative designed to cap off Catholic Charities Hawaii’s $28 million capital campaign that is funding the purchase and renovation of its new permanent home in Makiki.

It stands for “$10 million in 2010.” Ten million dollars is the amount left to raise in the overall effort to locate the organization’s Program Center at its new 2.2-acre Clarence T.C. Ching Campus on Keeaumoku Street.

“We’ve already reached many significant milestones in our capital campaign and are confident we can raise our final $10 million in 2010,” said Jerry Rauckhorst, Catholic Charities president and CEO.

He said the new campus will allow Catholic Charities to “consolidate programs and services” and make the overall operation stronger and more efficient.

It will also allow the agency to “develop new models and strategies” to address Hawaii’s growing needs, he said.

The Clarence T.C. Ching Campus will have a commercial kitchen, a 5,000-square foot multi-purpose hall, and meeting rooms available to other non-profits. Other facilities will include interview rooms, classrooms, offices, and a 10-unit apartment building for transitional housing programs.

Much of the work on the new facility has been completed and some programs and offices have already moved in.

Heading the “10 in ‘10” campaign committee are business leaders Larry Rodriguez and Roger Wall.

Catholic Charities Hawaii serves more than 60,000 people each year through over 30 programs statewide.
